  • Love it!! - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM

bought this car about 2 years ago, first car ive ever held over a year. well past the 75,000 mile mark now. I keep it on the highway. it handles well, it hugs curves and corners. i must say you should be an experienced driver to own one of these or else you cant fully appreciate it. great braking even when brakes are needed, and even for a 4-cylinder, great acceleration. ive only been beat by a really souped up cobra w/manual transmission (i have automatic). the body design has made my friends envious, and one of my enemies had the nerve to buy one after seeing mine! he got a 2002 though, which isnt as cool.

This car is actually a good car. Yes Ive had my problems with it but what used cars dont you. When I bought it it had a major problem that the company fixed. But after that minor problems. It is by far the most powerful 4cycl engine Ive driven.

This has been an excellent car for me. The only times its been in to be repaired were after it was hit in accidents. Regular maintenance is easy and has carried this car a long way.

I love it!!! My 99 Grand Am has 98500 miles on it. Still purrs like a kitten. Looks brand new and I love it. Words cant explain how much i love this car. Its by far the coolest car at work. 99000 and still drives like a race car. There is nothing wrong. Its in perfect cond. And i got it for a steal. ($5.000) I would recomend This car to any kid or parent as a first car. Thanx..

This is a big ripoff of the public, the car for its size gets terrible gas mileage. It is ranked #10 of 10 in crash tests and retains 24% of value to rank it in worst ten cars in the USA.Overall the car is just a throwawy car.Parts are constantly breaking, door handles, mirrors dont fold back to resist breaking if you hit one .The door window motors are always breaking.

This car was always at the garage. The car left my wife stranded two times due to the alternator dying and the automatic transmission needing rebuild at 45,000 miles. We also experienced the same problems as the other owners. (Warped brake rotors, Fan would not work on 1,2 or 3, Fuel injectors needed replaced after 2 years, and cracked interior molding) Better get the extended warranty, you are going to need it with this car!!!

I may have just bought it, but it had 100,000 miles on it and was in pretty much imaculate condition. (except the PCV hose had been broken and was ducht taped) The over all handling of the vehicle makes me squeek in excitement every time I climb in it. I fell in love with it the moment I test drove it. The only good part about it was that the previous owners took great care of it and kept up on the mantenance. the only things I see is wrong, is that the coolant smells funny, the volume controls on the dash dont work properly, and the drivers side window squeeks when I roll it up, and the pcv valve being broken off

  • Fun to drive, but some issues - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM

This overall has been a great first car! The car was my sisters and when she got a newer Grand Am, she gave hers to me. The car is a lot of fun to drive, it has a lot of pick up with the V6, but has some mechanical issues. In the time that weve both had it weve replaced the passenger window motor, the passenger window, front breaks, a couple sensors here and there, it needs a new engine belt, the drivers brake light had to be replaced and some other repairs here and there.

  • This Car is Junk - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM

I bought this car and it only had 12,000 miles on it. At 19,000 miles the automatic transmission went out and had to be replaced at MY COST ($3,000)! Then the alternater was replaced (Twice), both window motors had to be replaced, two front hub assembiles, the left CV joint twice, the right CV joint once, and it eats brakes like crazy (replaced 4 times just this year). I do not drive my car hard nor do I neglect it. I loved this car at first and now it is nothing but a headache. DO NOT BUY GRAND AMs they will live you in ruins!

  • I love mine! - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM
    By -

I inherited a 1999 Grand Am SE in 2004. I love mine! I have had only maintenance issues with mine. I love the weight of the wheel, the confident feeling of the suspension and the instrument layout. Ive had it now for 6 years and Im seriously considering getting another. The gas mileage is good, I get anywhere from 25 to 26 miles per gallon. I have always loved the Pontiacs red instrument cluster. I wish there was a larger engine option, but then the mileage would suffer. I have lowered the suspension and put Nitrous Oxide in it. I also put an after market hood on it. It looks aggressive without too personalized. Maybe mine was built on a Wednesday-because its great!
